Miesha attended college in Miami studying to become a nurse. While Mom served the community as a Police Officer in Mount Vernon, New York. Now a days if you want to get an earful about paying for college, listen to parents from states where tuition and fees have skyrocketed. Montika stated that she wanted the best for her daughter and was completely frustrated. The cost was taking over her peace of mind. A college education seems unaffordable at the worst possible time — when “people are really struggling.”
Miesha decided to make cupcakes in college and sell them while living in the dorms. This helped with the cost of books and extra spending monies. After she graduated she shared her newly found passion with Mom. Baking together became a household culture and Mom started to become a part of the dream as well.
