Tha B.U.M.P Founder Reflection of DMX

DMX said, “Y’all been eatin’ long enough now, stop being greedy. Just keep it real, partner, give to the needy.” This single peaked at No.79 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. One of the many verses I really appreciate from DMX. It reflects my journey as a small samaritan. This photo was captured while giving to the needy.

On this particular day in Yonkers DMX was serving as well as I and Priscilla Echi. It was an ordinary evening as I planned my day to serve in the evening after work. I contacted the CEO at the time Shawyn Patterson-Howard regarding what time were we serving at the Yonkers YMCA. She said we will serve at the Y and then meet up with DMX. DMX is well known for serving his community.

We met that evening in an alley ready to serve with love and food for the hungry. DMX makes you feel like a superhero with hugs and smiles, he said, “I haven’t seen you since the Castle.”

I opened up many nights at the Castle off 138th and Willis Avenue Bridge with DMX as a headliner. At that time we were serving hip-hop with love. DMX was ruthless with the mic. He taught me how to make words fill the air with power. Touching hearts with every comma and period.
