Every summer, I participate in a book reading, which allows me to continue as a bibliophile. In August 2024, I revisited “The Truths We Hold” by Kamala Harris.

Throughout her career, Harris has held various positions, including a courtroom progressive prosecutor, district attorney, attorney general, United States senator, and vice president of the United States of America.

Some of her notable accomplishments include: advocating for organizations such as Mothers of Homicide, which helped reduce the backlog of unsolved homicides; passing the 2004 Bill in California that extended sentences for individuals who engage in prostitution with minors; implementing the Back on Track program for “re-entry” and combating foreclosure fraud and misconduct; and authoring the California Homeowners Bill of Rights.

Harris is widely recognized as a lifelong public safety and civil rights leader who has prosecuted street gangs, major banks, major oil companies, and for-profit colleges.
I am grateful to Kamala Harris for her insightful speech. The 2024 election has provided valuable insights and lessons that will undoubtedly shape the future of our nation.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, I went on a Brief Excursion to the City’s “Town Hall” in Manhattan.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris shares her experiences in “107 Days” and insights into one of American history’s most incredible and critical presidential campaigns. In this special event, she will tell us what she saw, what she learned, and what we can do next.

Book Conversation with Kamala Harris
Initially constructed by the League for Political Education, a prominent suffragist organization, the “Town Hall” has evolved into a dynamic performance venue.
Situated at 123 West 43rd Street in Manhattan, the “Town Hall” has been a hub for hosting concerts, lectures, and other cultural events since its establishment in 1921.

The venue witnessed a few disruptions on Wednesday night, but Kamala Harris, the Attorney General and former Vice President of the United States, stood tall and effectively addressed the situation.

Her speech encompassed several key points:
1. The Power of Social Media: Harris emphasized the immense influence of social media, highlighting the absence of filters and the prevalence of misinformation. She drew upon her experience as a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, where she uncovered a substantial amount of misinformation and disinformation that anyone could disseminate.
2. Intentional Seeking of Trusted Sources: Harris underscored the importance of actively seeking out reliable sources of information and exercising caution when sharing content that may trigger emotions. She acknowledged the challenges in combating such information.
3. Political Manipulation: Harris underscored the pervasive nature of political manipulation and the need for vigilance in identifying and combating its effects.
4. Accurate Information: Harris emphasized distinguishing between accurate and inaccurate information.
Black women have emerged as a formidable voting force, contributing significantly to the electoral landscape.
Their influence is undeniable, with 16 million Black women eligible to vote and 67% registered.
Furthermore, Black women have been increasingly participating in politics, culminating in Kamala Harris’s historic appointment as the first Black Vice President of the United States.
In 2024, Harris garnered an overwhelming 92% of the vote, underscoring the unwavering support she enjoys from the Black community.
With Love,
Cynthia
