Girls of colour from Westchester were praised and celebrated. The book tour for “Black Girls Rock” was hosted by Cheryl Brannan founder of Sister to Sister International.
The buzz was that the award-winning entrepreneur, culture leader, and creator of the BLACK GIRLS ROCK! movement will visit Iona College New Rochelle, New York campus. Beverly Bond is a Philantropist, entrepreneur, mentor, culture curator, and celebrity DJ. It is known that Beverly is bringing to the attention to millions that Black Girls Rock. All sitting in the room agreed with the movement and were in formation waiting to confirm the understanding. Beverly shared that she wanted to celebrate female DJs. DJ Jazzy Joyce, Missy Elliot, and Sylvia Rhône former president on Universal Motown Records were her first black females DJ she honored. She then founded BLACK GIRLS ROCK! in 2006. Awards to honour and celebrate black women across the sector who make differences, dynamic accomplishments, and students of black geniuses. It then went to television and was viewed by many on BET in 2013.
Sister to Sister International, Founder Cheryl Brannan hosted “Westchester Black Girls Rock” with Dr. Traci Alexander “aka” Dr. TEA, host and producer of DrTeaTV’s Book Alive and CEO, May. Mom, LLC and DJ Cocoa Chanelle on the wheels of steel hosted the BLACK GIRLS ROCK WESTCHESTER! The room was bursting with Girls of colour from Westchester. Infusing and uplifting girls of colour was the charge.
When the stage illuminated all chatter ceased with three hundred heart beats waiting and breaths held. Beverly walks out with Dr. Tea and the room goes berserk. Smiles and ahhhhh fills the air because Black Girls Rock is here! The evening was chock-full with a divine influence to go out and create a level of excellence that can not be ignored.
